About me
Howdy!
I'm Justin. I’m a DevOps Engineer and Cloud Solutions Architect with a background rooted in hands-on experimentation. I got into infrastructure through a home lab that started with a Raspberry Pi and gradually expanded into advanced networking, Dockerized workloads, virtualization with Proxmox, and automation. That practical experience led to my first IT role before I had formal education or certifications, and set the foundation for my current work in cloud and DevOps.
After several years in industry, I pursued a B.S. in Cloud Computing at Western Governors University to formalize what I had already been learning through real-world use. Today, I focus on building cloud systems that are reliable, secure, and maintainable, with a pragmatic approach to automation. If automating something adds more long-term complexity than it removes, it is not worth doing.
Outside of work, I spend time in my home lab, write, and build small game projects on constrained platforms like the Game Boy Color and PICO-8. I also enjoy gardening, which reinforces the same principles I value in engineering: patience, planning, and thinking long-term. Over the next few years, I plan to continue growing as a DevOps engineer with deeper focus on secure, containerized workflows and deployment practices.
